After lots of efforts finally i am able to capture this. Its a composite image i have stack two images together

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at little desert of kutch. To be honest this was an unplanned trip.Sometimes unplanned trip yields better results.

Time

the sun settling down towards horizon.These birds were returning to their home.An evening at desert is one of my best experience of my life.You are able to witness amazing vibrant sky and brilliant colors.

Lighting

Now here comes the most interesting part.No body will tell you to shoot against the sun.When i was shooting my friend asked me "ARE YOU MAD OR WHAT YOU ARE SHOOTING AGAINST THE LIGHT".yes sometimes we have to break the rules to make a good images.After that i show him my camera screen,He said oh now i come to know why you are shooting against the light.

Equipment

There is a general belief that you need good piece of glass for making a good images.i disagree with that the real lens you are using is that your eye and your brain is the real processor.i made this image by using Nikon d 3200 and 18-200 lens which is having f 5.6 at 200mm. Most of the time i shoot handheld when i am doing birding it gives me extra flexibility to pan as well to focus and refocus my shot and to change my focus points.

Inspiration

I am big fan of Indian wildlife photographer sudhir shivraman.I was going through images from various participants in which i see one beautiful silhouette image in which a single pelican was flying above the sun.It makes a great composition.so when i visit desert i decided i will come home with this kind of image.

Editing

There is nothing much i did in post.i just tweaked the white balance in the light room and increase the contrast in light room.To make it more interesting i boost a little contrast.I just played with vibrance and leave it saturation as it is because i dont want to over do it.

In my camera bag

I am comfortable with Nikon cameras because i start shooting with Nikon and stil i am using it.My advice to fellow photographers is dont change brand if possible because as you have to learn about new machine and you have to acquire new lens for it.Right now i am using Nikon d 750 full frame sensor and my first camera body Nikon d 3200.and lenses i have 1 rokinon 14 mm full manual which is having f 2.8. 2 nikon 35 mm f 1.8. 3 nikon 50 mm f 1.8. 4 nikon 18-200 f 5.6. 4 nikon 24-120mm f 4. 5 nikon 18-55 mm kit lens.yes stil i am using that kit lens sometimes.

Feedback

My advice is make it simple,just follow the basics.Sometimes what happens when people are trying too much hard to make a good images and forget about the basics.In this image, the only thing is composition.According to me composition is a key factor to make or break an image.Shooting against the light is not a crime.So remove that thought from your mind.You can make good images by shooting against the light.Good luck eager to see your silhouette images.
