The photo was taken in my childhood home. This was our family dog growing up, he was my first model. I'm a self taught photographer so I looked for any animal I could find.Time
This was taken mid morning. He was laying on the floor in my mothers' art studio and looked so peaceful!Lighting
The oversized window provided the perfect lighting to capture his soft blue eyes. It really highlights the golden tone in his fur.Equipment
I was just starting out at this point. I had an Olympus FE220,X785. I did not use a flash or tripod. It was just a basic digital camera.Inspiration
This day I was walking around the house taking pictures of random objects. I remember going upstairs to my mothers' art studio to show her my photos and I saw Thunder laying on the rug in front of the window. I knew I needed to get down and take a photo! He was curled up and looked peaceful.Editing
For this particular photo I did not doing anything to it. The lighting was just right and I did not want to take away from that.In my camera bag
I am in no way a professional. I use either a basic digital camera or my cell phone. I do not have any special accessories for either camera.Feedback
My advice is to just be patient. Really observe your surroundings and you will see something that no one else will. I sit and wait all the time. Notice the little things! If you need to steady yourself just prop your arms on something. For this picture I was down on the floor. Slow steady breathing is key.
