Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my home in Townsville, Queensland, this is the first Cat I have ever owned or been owned by. This photo was recently taken during our Townsville winter which is fairly mind in comparison to other countries, but can get very cold to us and our animals, here we have my cat who is ginger and white and has the ginger cat nature full blown!! My pets have their own spaces and one is an old recliner, I put an old sheet down and fluffed it up a bit and my cat crawled inside for some warmth and a cat nap as you can see.

Time

Mid afternoon

Lighting

All natural lighting, this shot was not planned or set up, I just happened to be passing the living room with my camera to the back yard and noticed the cat getting comfy after I had put the sheet down so I waited and watched

Equipment

Nikon D7100, no other equipment involved

Inspiration

I love photography and my pets - I didn't know if an action shot of my cat yawning would even turn out, I always experiment to see what will happen if I do this or that, so I lined up and took some shots of my cat in mid yawn and this is the result.

Editing

I only changed the photo from color to black and white no other processing involed

In my camera bag

oh my, I carry a lot with me just in case, suffice to say I usually take up all the room in the boot/trunk of my large 4 door sedan!

Feedback

I teach beginners how to get going with their new cameras or old cameras lol, so they fully understand what they can achieve if they know what to do where and under what conditions, so patience and lots of it and a good tripod is always a great start
