Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a public park. A Park where many people walking or just sitting, many children play at that park.

Time

He is one of my favorite subject. August 2015 when i first met him and took his photo. I think it's around 11 AM, a beautiful sunny Sunday.

Lighting

The park is vey shady because there many large trees with lush leaves. It's a perfect natural lighting when i took this photo. With ISO 100 at 1/125sec shutter speed, i think it's a good setting.

Equipment

I use Olympus OMD E-M5 with mzd12-50 lens or Minolta Rokkor 50/1.4. When i take a portrait i use Minolta. I like this lens, it's old but very sharp. When take a picture, i never use tripod and use flash rarely. Because i like natural lighting.

Inspiration

We have long conversation before i decide to take portrait of him. I admire him, especially about his life on the principle of life. He have a hard life. He never expect mercy from others. He sell balloons for living.

Editing

Usually I take raw for every photo so it's much easier for post processing. Sometimes I use Snapseed, but if I've a lot time I use Lightroom. For this portrait, I use Snapseed for post processing. It's very handy and easy for quick post processing.

In my camera bag

I never bring a lot of thing in, it's just a small bag. Because I have 2 lens only. So, I take my Olympus OMD E-M5, mzd12-50 lens (for street, landscape and macro), Minolta Rokkor 50/1.4 (for street and portrait), 1 spare battery, and 1 spare MicroSD card.

Feedback

I don't have many advice, but for portrait photography I think we must know a subject. So we can take his personality on his portrait. I always have long conversation before. Listen to them, they have a lot very interesting story.
