I took this picture at the foster home of this kitten we were interested in adopting. We were just playing with him in someone's bedroom. Originally we found him abandoned in our back yard. He was a tiny little kitten. We had to drive an hour out of town to find a cat rescue that had a nursing mother that could take him and take care of him. When he was old enough we contacted the rescue about adopting him. Part of the process was to have a visit with him to see how he reacted to us and how we reacted to him. Naturally we feel in love with him. We named him Smooshy.Time
It was a little after dinner time. We had interrupted the family having a big dinner but they welcomed us in and we played with the kittens for about an hour.Lighting
I was just taking pics of the action while we were playing. I did not do anything special for the lighting other than my flash.Equipment
I took this picture with my Nikon D7100 with the NIKKOR 18-105mm and my Yongnuo flashInspiration
I was just trying to capture the kittens playing around and being cute. I took a lot of pictures that evening but this one really stood out as a really nice shot.Editing
I always like to do a little post processing. I use Aftershot Pro. I like to tweak the contrast and saturation and sharpen things a bit. I did not do anything too extreme for this one.In my camera bag
Normally in my bag I have my D7100, my NIKKOR 18-105mm, Nikkor 70-300mm, Nikkor 40mm macro lens and my and my Yongnuo YN560 II flash. I also like to keep my Magmod Magshere and my new Magmod MagbeamFeedback
My only advice for taking pictures of pets is to snap lots of pictures and don't be afraid to get down on the ground and have fun with them.
