Forget-Me-Not pond is a classic reflection lake and I had only shot the Milky Way from the same vantage point, to get the stars reflection!Editing
Yes the Aperture (Apple) software for sensor spots and basic contrast/saturation; for details the Nik collection Vivenza and DeFineIn my camera bag
Canon 16-35 f2.8 for day landscape using ND filters; Tamron 15-35 f2.8 for night sky landscape, Rokinon 14mm f2.8 for big Aurora and sky shots. Everyday I have the 24-70 f2.8 v2 on my camera as I can use the Lee Filter system for light controlFeedback
the time of day is really the most important, and the choice of subject for the time of day, I wanted reflections and mountains they are best during night or early morning because the mountains are west of my location, during Sunset they are backlit and require a dark ND filter to really bring out the foreground. I used a tripod and a cable release and I bracketed some shots first to catch the different aspects shadow/highlights. I already knew the composition since i had been there before. The wind was negligible so the reflections were sharp, Lack of clouds was an aesthetic compositional element that was out of my control. I would love to revisit with some dramatic clouds at sunrise with the warm colours! If I shot this later in the day chances are it would be so hazy to make it uninteresting.
