I was on vacation when I took this shot. We first started out in Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon was our next stop. Now mind you, when we got to the South Rim it was misty raining and I thought I wouldn't be able to see the canyon. But I was more then surprised to see a double rainbow going into the canyon! I don't think I will ever see this again and its probably one of my favorite vacation pictures.

The photo was taken while on vacation at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I'm a self-taught photographer, so every shot is a learning experience and an opportunity to grow my confidence as a hobbyist photographer.Time
My family and I arrived at the canyon sometime in the afternoon which was a drizzly, rainy drive. Thankfully, there was some breaks in the clouds where we got to see some sun and got to see the double rainbow going into the canyon. Something that you don't get to see everyday and we were very grateful that we got to see it when we did. The view was breathtaking!Lighting
The environment was already dreary with the rain clouds when we first arrived that we didn't think we would be able to see grandness of the canyon but the break in the clouds added the much needed light to show the splendor of reds and oranges of the canyon and to bring us the brightest rainbow we ever saw, well two for that matter.Equipment
This was shot on my brand new Canon EOS Rebel T5 and for the life of me I can't remember which lens I used. Other then that, no other equipment was involved.Inspiration
This is by far one of my favorite photos during my vacation there. Since it was my first time at The Grand Canyon, the majestic view was inspiration enough to shot as many photos as possible because I don't know when I would get a second opportunity to see the most breathtaking natural landscape in the U.S. This photo is one of the lucky few that left a forever lasting impression. I loved the contrast from the clouds and the shadows of the canyons behind the rainbow which is a draw for the eyes.Editing
There was minimal post-processing involved. I only used a clarity filter in Lightroom to bring out the natural colors and then left the photo alone. In my camera bag
Ever since I bought my Canon, it has become my primary must have along with my zoom lens. I carry my little Nikon point and shoot Coolpix camera with me for backup just incase the battery dies on me during shots. Which I've had that happen to me numerous occasions so I like to have my iPhone with me as well. Extra batteries and memory disk are a definite since I can get carried away and overflow the memory card. Sometimes I will bring my laptop with me while reviewing and retouching any photos if needed while enjoying a Caramel Macchiato.Feedback
For this photo, the weather and timing is key. If it wasn't for the rain and sun and not being at that particular moment, I would have never gotten this photo. And since I didn't know the area, the weather was surprising and the time change was kind of a factor.
