Location
This was the first place I visited to photograph after moving to London, from San Francisco.Time
Mid-afternoon, on a rare sunny day in London.Lighting
I had to be careful shooting in the sunlight, to avoid overexposure.Equipment
Just me and my Canon EOS 60DInspiration
In 2014, the Tower of London marked the centenary of the outbreak of WWI with the commemorative art installation 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red', which saw the moat filled with 888,246 ceramic poppies. The poppies were all over the news and across social media but I wanted to see them for myself.Editing
The sky required a little editing, so it didn't appear washed out.In my camera bag
I now shoot with a Canon EOS 80D. I have a few lenses, but tend to only carry my 18mm-135 lens with me, as it's quite versatile. I'll always have a few extra batteries and several memory cards in my bag, in addition to my remote control and Apple Lightning SD card reader.Feedback
Unfortunately, this installation is no longer on display, but maybe there will be something similar, or better, in 2114!
