Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken at Cuckmere Haven in the Seven Sisters Country Park, East Sussex.

Time

This was taken around midday on an overcast day.

Lighting

Not much to say regarding the lighting, very diffuse light from the cloudy sky makes for soft shadows.

Equipment

Nikon D40 with a kit DX 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

Getting within a couple of feet of this elegant creature. There were a few swans about on this meandering landlocked section of what was the River Cuckmere but this one was particularly curious and came up the the waters edge.

Editing

RAW to greyscale conversion with some tonal adjustments, a little added contrast and clarity with some dodging and burning and selective sharpening.

In my camera bag

Nikon D40 with standard kit lenses, SB-400 flash.

Feedback

I guess just try to get the animal curious so it comes to you rather than attempting to approach it yourself.
