This lovely daisy is in my neighbors garden. Her little 'field' of daisies always brings a smile to my heart and I take photos of them nearly every year. They seem to just call out to me. I can't help myself.Time
I usually take a late afternoon or early evening walk around my neighborhood. I always try to see things from a perspective others wouldn't normally see. This shot was taken during one of those walks, but for some unknown reason the only camera I had with me was my phone. Isn't that always the way?Lighting
As I was walking, I noticed how the sun was playing with these daisies. The petals were simply glowing and the light was bouncing all around. I wanted the light to sparkle behind this daisy so as the sun was getting low in the sky just behind the daisies I snapped the shot and so glad I did.Equipment
I love my Nikon but didn't have it with me. I've heard it said the best camera is the one you have with you, so I had my Samsung Galaxy S5 with me and just got up close and personal with the daisy. I didn't use any filters, just the already existing camera that is on my phone. Turns out, whoever said the best camera is the one you have with you was right!Inspiration
I love all things nature. The textures, the colors, the shapes and sizes. As I walked by these daisies I just couldn't help myself, they begged me to take their photo. The colors, the light, the textures, everything was almost as perfect as they could beEditing
Post processing only required a bit of cropping in order to remove a few undesirables from the shot. Nothing like a few cars and a dumpster to ruin a shot!In my camera bag
I usually carry my Nikon D3100 with a 25-200mm wide angle lens and a 50mm zoom lens. My tripod is also always near, just in case and I never leave home without a back up battery and a lens cloth.Feedback
Don't be afraid to take photos with whatever camera you have on hand. Take your time, set up the shot and if it doesn't come out like you wanted, move around and snap away. Get up close and personal whether it be with nature or human. Some of my best shots have come from doing just these few simple things. It isn't always about having the most expensive equipment, most of the time it's about capturing what your heart sees no matter what camera you might have with you.
