Location
The photo was photographed in an immigrant's dormitory in Jerusalem where I lived in for three years.Time
The photo was shot in the morning. Mystery of private lives, intimacy, and funny situations are visible to everybody and at the same time are hidden. You can escape through ladders and corridors and to get lost in strange rooms.Lighting
There is a natural light from a plurality of windows in a long hallway. The light fell indirectly so I had diffuse soft light.Equipment
I shot on the film by the old East German camera Pentakon 6x6, with Carl Zeiss lens of 200 mm, so that I could achieve the desired depth of field.Inspiration
The lack of personal space, the inability to fully dispose of personal time, forced communication with neighbors and knowledge of their life changes principles of everyday behavior. There are long corridors and rows of the same type doors with different characters, destinies and stories that are hiding behind them. This photo is part of the series of photos where I move the action from private space into a space open to all that fills it with a special atmosphere.Editing
The film was developed manually in Jobo and then scanned with a slight color correction. In my camera bag
At this moment, the main equipment is the camera Canon EOS 5d Mark II, Canon 50mm f1.4 lens, two Canon 580 ex speedlight flash, transmitter st-2 Canon.I use this equipment for staged photography. To shoot in between times I have a pocket camera fuji 550px and the camera in the phone Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. But on my opinion the most interesting thing that it is important to be aware that the photo starts in the mind, and the camera only registers it in the physical world.Feedback
I think what’s important is to try to understand what is it that you’re trying to show and what’s your photo is about, and give some kind of title to the photo, or photo series, and then it will be more clear what goes into the frame, which items you will need and in what atmosphere. For example I wonder from the everyday of people, that we get up for work, come back home, look into the eyes of someone unknown, being angry, falling in love, moving our lips and spewing out words and a million other things, combinations, hues and variations and each can be a subject for photography.
