Hallways Photo Contest Winners
Thank you to all the photographers that shared their photos showing hallways in this photo contest. We appreciate the participation of the photographers that helped us find the People's Choice by voting for their favorite shots.
"One of the factors I first consider when judging for a “hallway” contest – is if the image itself showcases a hallway as the main subject. So while it might be nice to have something else in the foreground that stands out – remember, that may distract from what the subject should be: hallways.
Another aspect I consider is visual flow and overall composition. For a hallway, I want see that depth and perspective of the hallway and be pulled through it from the front to the end. So I can imagine myself walking down that very hall. If there are distractions along the way that don’t add to the mood of the scene (eg, a garbage can that is out of place, or something of a bright color that distracts), or something along the edges that does not quite fit in, I would remove it prior to the shot, re-frame, or edit it out. Items that belong to the scene and mood are perfectly ok! To me, I want to be pulled down the hallway and enjoy my visual virtual walk along the way. A special thanks to friend and professional photographer Chris Collacott for his collaboration as a guest judge. Chris Collacott, is an international award-winning photographer who is known for his stunning natural landscape, architecture, and cityscape images. He specializes in large-scale panoramic photos. Collacott’s recently achieved highest scoring gigapixel image and 4th place overall in the EPSON Pano Awards 2013 for the built environment, and one of his most notable accomplishments include having one of his Vancouver Skyline photos showcased on a 23-foot mural in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics Athletes Village.
