Location
This photo was taken right outside of Willis (Sears) Tower in Downtown Chicago.Time
This was taken during the day at noon.Lighting
This was taken with natural light. The direct sun light resulted in the sun burst and the deep shadows in this image.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark II with a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II lens.Inspiration
The inspiration for this photo originated from my love of architecture. I've always wanted to capture the feeling of being "surrounded by giants" and nothing seemed to convey this idea more than looking up at the tallest building in Chicago.Editing
I wanted to emphasize the idea of being surrounded, so I boosted the contrast, clarity and the blacks in the buildings to allow them to frame the sky.In my camera bag
I normally have my walk around lens which is a 24-70mm, a 50mm prime lens and have recently been carrying a 100mm macro lens. In addition, I always have a back up battery, memory cards, and my notebook for jotting down locations & ideas.Feedback
Always look up, or down, or side to side. Exploring different perspectives helped me see the world in new ways. I try to use my camera as my eyes as much as I can.
