Here is a photo of Old Pinawa Dam shot at sun set. The sun was setting on the other side of the hydro dam and beaming through the old cylinder holes where I belive where casings to the massive impellers that were shaft driven and spun to generate power .. This hydro dam has not been in use since the later 60's but don't quote me. In this photo tho it shows how resilient and amazing nature is as life over the past 50 plus yrs starts to over take and grown and survive on a massive concrete structure ... its something to see and experience an abandoned place once an eye sore but now provides a beautiful therapeutic magical feeling when we add in the rapid sounds, waterfall sounds, leaves rustle in the wind , sounds of all kinds of birds and critters ... if you are from manitoba or visiting i highly suggest taking the time to visit and experience this location . My parents were married here , my baby sister was married here , I have also traveled alot here in manitoba both remote and city but personally for only being 1.5 hr drive from winnipeg its definetly on my top three favorite destinations mb has to offer .
