Behind The Lens

Location

I made this shot at the "passo delle erbe" in the beautiful setting of the Dolomites.

Time

it was made during the first hours of the night when, after careful planning, the milky way was high in the sky and was to the right of the mountain range in order to best fill my composition

Lighting

as I mean my night photography the only lighting I want is natural, without any kind of artificial light or anything. in this case I was in the presence of a beautiful dark night with a unique sky of its kind

Equipment

I used my trusty benro tripod, which accompanies me in all my adventures, mounting on it a Nikon D750 with a Sigma 14mm 1.8

Inspiration

but the inspiration came by itself .. when you have such a powerful foreground, with a crazy subject in the background and a fabulous sky, the shot comes by itself.

Editing

for this photo I used 2 shooting techniques .. a focus stacking to have all the foreground and background in focus and then a correct exposure to get the sky in a point-like manner and the milky way clearly visible

In my camera bag

At this precise moment I have revolutionized my kit a bit from a very happy owner of a nikon D750 I switched to a nikon Z6 II while my lens park includes a Sigma 14mm f / 1.8 Art, a Sigma 100-400 f / 5-6.3 and a Nikon 16-35 f / 4.

Feedback

a piece of advice that I could give to those who want to experiment with a night stacking is to have a lot of patience and you will see that it will be rewarded by taking home a truly unique shot! and above all as I have said on other occasions, having fun is the first rule
