Location
The photo was taken nearby Grimsö, Sweden.Time
After a long drive searching for wildlife, we were driving home pretty fast. But then on one of the clearcuts we saw this moose standing and eating. It was maybe 5-10min before sunset, so the light wasn't good when I tried to make a photo when it was eating in the lower parts of the clearcut. Then it moved up the hill and was perfectly standing on top of the hill and looking around and that's how I ended up making this photo with the beautiful sunset on the back.Lighting
It was really late already. Just before sunset, so I had to work with high ISO and low shutterspeed. Couple of minutes later I couldn't have made this photo.Equipment
For this photo I used a Canon EOS 50D an a Sigma 150-600 lens.Inspiration
I have been living in Sweden now for over a year and have been out trying to photograph all it's wildlife. Moose are hard to photograph, especially to make a good photo. Because moose aren't photogenic, so you need to work around that with interesting light or objects in the field.Editing
Yes, I changed the lighting and contrast a bit to let the sunset come out a bit more. But nothing else.In my camera bag
I always have my Canon EOS 50D and Sigma 150-600 lens with me when I go out.Feedback
Sunset and silhouette photos are amazing. Playing with the ISO/shutterspeed settings and positioning of the animal/object in the photo is challenging but the results can be beautiful. Try it yourself and be amazed by the results!
