Location
I took the photo in Chessington Garden Centre in SurreyTime
It after my lunch but during the Chameleon feeding time.Lighting
I asked if I could take photographs and had to be careful about reflections from the vivarium so I positioned my lens close to the glass without using flash.Equipment
Canon 1Dx Mk 2 Canon 24-70mm lens. This lens does have the macro feature although I didn’t use that.Inspiration
I was inspired by the vivid green colours and in contrast the cricket with its yellows and browns.Editing
All I did was crop the photograph. I find post processing to be time consuming and usually takes away the originality of the image. This needed to be as natural possible without looking staged. In my camera bag
I keep my canon 100-400mm L USM mk2 lens with twist grip, a 1.4x extender - also Canon (mk3), spare (and fully charged) battery, lens cleaning cloth, air blower, business cards and a micro fibre cloth to assist with drying should I get caught out in the rain.Feedback
Stay focussed on what you’re trying to achieve. Know your equipment and it’s capabilities, take a field guide manual for reference should you need it and remember to be quick at being able to set up otherwise you’ll miss the moment.
