Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo in the studio where I worked in Havana, Cuba. It is a music studio in a basement that we also used to take photos.

Time

I took the photo around 6:00 pm. We had finished a session to promote costumes designed by a friend, we were tired and we had few conditions to work, we had a good time reviewing what was achieved and we wanted to do something more intimate away from the promotional session and this was the result, it is one of my photos favorites.

Lighting

Nothing extraordinary about the lighting, I remember we had an LED panel and the ceiling lights in the studio.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon Rebel T3i, with an 50mm f/2. No other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

I had wanted to do something like this for a long time but had not had the chance to do it. The model used is a good friend who is also a photographer and dancer, so we both knew what we were looking for. we loved this job.

Editing

Not much post-processing required, just adjust the black and white balance and turn the photo into monochrome.

In my camera bag

My photographic equipment is quite modest, it consists of a Canon REBEL T3i body, a Yongnuo 50mm 1.8 lens, an 18-135mm and a 75-300mm, both from Canon. It is quite light and not very professional but I am quite satisfied with what I have achieved. It will seem crazy at this time but it is what I have.

Feedback

Aall works are complex and have their demands, especially with models. I think the essence of the latter is to be very respectful and achieve good communication with the model.
