Just like my dog, not happy in the winter unless her face is covered with snow!

Location
This image was made on a boardwalk traversing a wetlands conservation easement in Anchorage, AK.Time
The best mage was made in the early afternoon in December.Lighting
The winter sun sits low on the horizon in Alaska in the winter. Daylight hours are short - especially in December. The days are shorter but the lighting can be quite nice, as it was on this occasion breaking in over the black spruce in the background.Equipment
I took this image with a Pentax K-1 full gram DSLR. I’d of thought use a flash - or a tripod.Inspiration
My wife is the person located in the background of the image. We were walking our dog - Dakota - off leash on a nice winter day. I had recently received an old Pentax 120mm f2.8 manual kens and wanted to try it out. Dakota was a willing model. The inspiration for this particular image was the dusting of snow on Dakota’s face. Dakota’s stern, snowy muzzle, combined with the silver metal collar and Dakota’s dark coat made for a great contrast wit the snow and muted tones on the trees.Editing
I did minimal processing to the image in PS CC, Adobe Camera Raw. After that I converted to black and white using Nik Silver Effex. In my camera bag

Usually carry my Pentax K-1, a 24-70mm/2.8, a circular polarizer and neutral density filters, as conditions warrant.
