Location
The photo was taken in the abandoned factory in Leiria, Portugal. Some of my friends, including myself, decided to try a new photoshoot location and prepare smoke grenades to make it different. One of my friends is the model on this photo, who is also a videographer.Time
At that moment, I was a beginner photographer and I’ve never thought that this photo would receive so much positive feedback here. I really appreciate it! As you can see in the photo, the lights and shadows are very harsh, because it was taken in the afternoon, right after mid-day on a sunny day.Lighting
I always wanted to try different ideas in my shots and this was definitely one of the most markable days to shoot. Love the uniqueness that the smoke can give to the photo, you just need to interact with it ;) Regarding the light, this photo is presented only in the natural light. With some knowledge and experience in photography, I would like to recreate this photo using the flashlights, implement the light scheme to illuminate better the subject and add dramatism.Equipment
This photo was shot on a Canon 6D, with a 24-105mm f/4 lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
The greatest inspiration comes from different Pinterest photo ideas but never had an opportunity to use smoke grenades and to find a place like this to do everything in safety.Editing
This photo was edited in Adobe Lightroom. Post-Processing involved only slight adjustments, like make the photo more contrasty, increase the exposure and clarity, and adjust some color correction. In my camera bag
Normally I bring my camera with me, Canon 6D with 24-105mm f/4 lens, one flashlight, two camera batteries, one flash battery, and a few memory cards. Someday, I want to try astrophotography and shoot more creative portraits with Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 II USM lens and retro soviet (Russian) Helios 44mm f/2 lens, which deserve more attention in future photo sessions.Feedback
First of all, never be afraid to try something new, even if it is out of your comfort zone. Second, be sure to do this type of photoshoot in safety and security. Always protect yourself and other participants in the shoot. When shooting, play with different angles, smoke density, and f/ stops.
