At my dinner table for a little aunties mid day snack ;)Time
This was taken sometime in the early afternoon.Lighting
I have a skylight in my kitchen that provides a great source for natural indirect lighting. This also helped provide the nice contrast in shadows behind the subject.Equipment
This was a very natural shot with no flash. I also did not use a tripod but I did have my camera propped On the table for more support and to reach a level where I was eye to eye with the subject.Inspiration
I am a mother of 3 and an auntie of 5. Time flies, before you know it the kids will be off in college. Sometimes life's greatest moments are as simple as a bowl of ice cream at 2:00 in the afternoon.Editing
I did a little light editing by unsaturating the picture and enhancing the background shadows to create more of a contrast that allows the subject to be the main focus in the frame. In my camera bag
I always carry an extra battery and battery charger, spare memory card, mini tri pod, and an external flash.Feedback
When dealing with small children it is best to just get on their Level. Be ready for the unexpected, kids are much easier to photograph when you just let them be kids. Suggest they play some of their favorite games or capture them eating their favorite foods!! Those are the priceless moments that we want to treasure forever.
