I love to get up early and find interesting shots. I live in the midwest, in Batavia, IL, and at this time of the year (early spring) there are these beautiful, tiny, blue/purple wild flowers that bloom in a few places in town. So I headed over to Fabyan Forest Preserve in my town to capture them before they all died out.Time
I LOVE to get up early to go shooting! I typically don't travel distances due to my husbands job of being a golf course superintendent (we are home from April through September) so I rely on finding the beauty that is right around me at home! I got up early to get to the park in town before the sun actually rose so I could scope out the best place to capture these little beauties!Lighting
There is nothing better than early morning light! Those sun rays...sigh.... And especially when there is dew on the ground, you can get the best bokeh from the light when you get it back lit.Equipment
I am a Canon girl. No particular reason, but that is what I started out with so I have stuck with it! I currently use a Canon 5dmiii. With this image, I used my Canon 100mm macro lens...and that's it! I let mother nature do the rest!Inspiration
There are these beautiful, very small, blue/purple flowers that bloom in the beginning of spring and they just cover the ground, kind of like a ground cover. It is really so beautiful to see them spreading out over a large piece of land. They don't stay blooming for very long, and it was getting near when they were going to be dying out, so I needed to capture them quickly!Editing
I don't think I did a ton of post processing with this image. I think I warmed it up a bit and that is about it!In my camera bag
My Canon camera backpack seems to always be with me...cuz you just never know! Anyway, I always have my 5dmiii, 24-70, 70-200, and my 100 macro. Typically I don't have any flashes unless I'm doing a portrait. ALWAYS have a charged battery or two, lens cleaner, flash cards, and most needed....Carmex! LOLFeedback
Get down low! I mean, don't just crouch down, lay down on the ground and look around! There is so much down there that we miss and just walk right by. But it is a beautiful view from down under.... :) Also, if there is no dew or rain drops, bring a spray bottle and spray away!
