My first attempt at altering "depth of field" on Photoshop. I love this photo

I like it! Very compelling...My suggestion would be to come in closer on your subjects. That's where the interest is!

Thank you njkerosky. I'm a rookie and definitely open to anybody's suggestion, esp. from the pros! :)

Location
The photo was taken standing at the entrance to the Hammond River covered bridge, near Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Photo taken by Terry Horton.Time
Late afternoon on a bright, sunny, warm summer day.Lighting
I personally like how the brighter, lower part of the image blends to the rich brown, old wood then darkens toward the top. Also the tunnel view into blurred daylight and green vegetation made it interesting. I darkened the light at the end of the tunnel to make it show up better. [Perhaps this was the wrong thing to do?... "Walk on my son, the darkened bright light awaits you...". lol.]Equipment
iPhone 5? Note the imperfections: off center, weird post processing blur effect and likely more.Inspiration
That's an easy question to answer. Just look at the photo yourself! :) A moment of love is beautiful and a beautiful site. Capturing it in an unplanned photograph is simply awesome. Especially when there is such a pure and innocent moment between Mom and child. I love young Brook's body posture, with her "standing-tall kiss" clearly the most important thing to her, and with her arms relaxed outwards. No need in her mind to touch Mommy with anything else but her little lips.Editing
Yes, Adobe Photoshop was used to help improve a few things: 1) Adjust lighting to the entire image (brightness, contrast, shadows/highlights) 2) Reduce brightness at the end of the tunnel and enhance the greens 3) Add a blur effect to the entire photo, yet keep Mom & Brookie in focus ("depth of field") 4) Another version of this photo was cropped so to zoom in more on Brook & MomIn my camera bag
I'm an amateur and don't own a "real camera" other than my iPhone12 Pro.Feedback
In light of the image of interest, capturing an emotion is simply awesome. Pay attention to those around you. A mood/emotion comes and goes and sometimes becomes visual. In general, I just try to pay attention to my surroundings and think from the eye of a camera so to speak. Having a camera always on-hand obviously helps! :) Good post-processing software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop) is extremely helpful when it comes to colours (vividness, saturation), lighting (brightness/contrast), and especially adding/removing shadows and sometimes using some cool effects. My favourite adjustment in this photo was using its "shadows/highlights" feature.
