This photo was taken close to the Mirador Los Llanos del Jable, at a height of 1342m, above the clouds. The lights below the clouds are from the city of El Paso, La Palma. There was a new moon that night.
The image is a combination of 3 different exposures: the first was taken around half an hour after sunset at ISO 100, where the foreground still had some definition. The second was taken around an hour after sunset exposed for the clouds. But the sky did not yet show enough stars, so I had to wait another half an hour for complete darkness and did the third exposure at ISO 1600, this time for the stars.
Unfortunately, there was no milky way visible, but the falling star somehow made up for that.
