I took this photo in my backyard actually. He was just curiously sitting up on a branch staring at me. Surprisingly calm!Time
I took this photo during mid afternoon around 2pm. Backyard was still pretty bright and lit up very beautifully.Lighting
Natural sunshine. :) sometimes I feel like natural light can be the best when taking wildlife photography.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon Rebel t2i, with a telephoto lens, no flash, and no tripod.Inspiration
I was sitting in my backyard on the deck at our little umbrella table reading a book, with my camera beside me (Always just in case) and I heard some squirrel noises (which of courses prompted me to grab my camera!) and noticed this guy sitting on a branch a couple feet from me just talking like crazy. I wanted to see how close I could get, so I slowly (very slowly) walked over to where he was, and I actually got close enough to stand right below him, and take this photo. It was almost like he wanted to get his picture taken!Editing
I corrected the exposure, and slightly increased the saturation and clarity. In my camera bag
I have a few different lenses. (50mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, a macro lens, and a fish eye lens as well.) Also, I have a few microfiber cloths, a charger, and a wireless remote. I also have a very good sturdy, extendable tripod. (Manfrotto)Feedback
I would say the first step is to definitely take your time! Don't rush! Especially with wildlife. If you make sudden movements you only frighten them. If you move slower, it may seem like you're a little less of a threat to them. Second step would be to make sure you have good natural lighting or a nice natural flash (it really helps to bring out the colors and make it look more natural). Third step is be creative! and angles/composition really helps. Make sure your subject is against a good background that compliments it and doesn't confuse the eye too much.
