Location
This photo was taken at Lake Hume Victoria. this part of the dam would be metres under water now with the large amounts of rain we have had and the dam actually being at 100% level for the first time in over 10 years.Time
Being a landscape photographer certainly leaves no time for many sleep ins! This shot was taken just before sunrise, which meant a dark cold walk to the location.Lighting
I had originally considered taking this shot from a different section of the lake but upon seeing the fog rolling over that morning it inspired me to move to this location. The colours of the sky began bursting quickly so i thought using these exposed trees and light clashing with the fog and distant mountains would work great.Equipment
Tripod as standard for this type of work, Canon 6D, Canon 24-70mm l series lens and a Hoya nd8 filterInspiration
Moving to a new area has been great inspiration to my photography with there being so many different places to shoot, this part of Victoria Australia would have to be some of the most breath taking landscape in the country.Editing
This shot only needed minimal post processing, as i always shoot in raw mode i changed some highlights, shadows and slight exposure. In my camera bag
Depending on what I'm shooting but for my landscape work i love to travel light as it usually involves walking and sometimes a lot of it. I always carry a tripod plus a series of nd filters, my 14mm and 24-70mm lenses and my Canon 6D camera body.Feedback
I think spending plenty of time exploring and seeing new places is a start to great landscape photography, from there you can combine time of day and lighting to capture some exceptional images.
