Sunset on the Vernal EquinoxLighting
I timed this on the eve of the Vernal Equinox, knowing the setting Sun would fall just behind the cityscape. I dropped the f-stop to create a silhouetted skyline but get more character out of the sky.Equipment
Canon 60D on an 18-200mm lens.Inspiration
There is a photo on the internet that someone took in downtown Chicago during an equinox. The Setting Sun was falling right down the middle of the street. I just love the timing and composer of the photo. I hope to create something similar with mine.Editing
I used a little post processing to brighten up the bottom of the picture and bring out some detail in the buildings. Other than some sharpening, nature did the rest.In my camera bag
Besides what I used for this photo, My trusty 50 prime, an intervalometer, and a ton of spare batteries...Feedback
There is an app you can download called The Photographers Ephemeris... If you don't have it, you need to get it. It tells you when and where the sun and moon set, and helps you plan for future shoots with extreme accuracy. Knowing where the light is coming from and how long it's going to last can make everything easier.
