Location
I was in the Riviera Maya at the XCarte Resort in Mexico. This was the interior waterway to get to the park.Time
It was around noon. I loved how the sun was hitting the buildings and giving off great shadows which added even more depth to the image.Lighting
I tend to use whatever lighting nature provides. I adjust the settings on my camera to get the desired image.Equipment
Nikon E5700, no flash, no tripod.Inspiration
I was inspired by the how the sunlight added to the depth and richness of the setting.Editing
I do not like to use very much post processing at all except for minor adjustments (cropping, etc.) in Lightroom. I don't like it when a photograph no longer portrays the actual image I captured due to so much over post processing used these days.In my camera bag
I usually shoot with Canon so this Nikon was probably my easy to carry camera. When I do carry my full equipment, I will have two bodies, three lenses of varying sizes, always carry a tripod, but definitely MANY charged batteries and extra CF cards. Those are two items I NEVER want to run out of! I also always carry weather protection for my gear.Feedback
Practice. Enjoy what you are doing. Learn from your mistakes. Do NOT change so much in post production that it becomes a computer generated image rather than the one you captured through your skill and use of your equipment. This is especially true when photographing nature and wildlife because our world is already so fragile, we should not make it look nicer than it is. No rose colored glasses. Show your audience what is really happening.
