Thank you for taking the time to comment. I was lucky on this morning. I woke before dawn and it was raining at my Hotel outside of the park.. I decided to go in anyway and was rewarded with snow and clearing skies :)

This photo was taken in Yosemite National Park in California, USA on a particularly and unseasonably cold Spring morning.Time
This shot was taken just after dawn early on a Cold Spring Morning. I love the early hours of the day when there is often no other soul around and the elements can come together in often surprising and beautiful ways. Taking Photos at the edges.Lighting
I was lucky enough to travel to this beautiful place on vacation from the UK. I was staying near to the park and got up very early with the intention of driving in to take some dawn photographs. I was standing by the car in the dark with grey skies and rain and very nearly decided to head back to bed. I decided to head in anyway... as I drove up and into the park the falling rain began to fall as snow (due to the higher elevation) you can just see the snow highlighting the trees in the photo. The Rain cleared to a bright and misty morning as I parked near to the meadow. I jogged out into the snow covered clearing until I was far enough to capture the whole of El Capitan in frame.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3 with 24-70 f2.8 mounted on a Gitzo Tripod..Inspiration
The coming together of the dramatic elements of snow, dawn light and mist suited the majestic El Capitan. It rises 1000m from cooks meadow in Yosemite National Park and must be seen. I hope that my picture captures the drama for the audience... I certainly enjoy viewing it to remind me of the magic of the morning and that amazing light can come from the most un-inspiring startEditing
I post processed in Nik Silver Efex Pro which is still my favourite Black and White Conversion Plugin despite recent pass the parcel with the application. I encourage anyone to give this amazing program a trial. In my camera bag
I have used Canon and Nikon in my time but more recently have moved into Mirrorless with Fuji X-T2. I usually travel light with the X-T2 a 16mm f1.4 and spare battery (or two)Feedback
I would say that the lesson from this shot is to take your opportunities when you can, don't be tempted to skip an early morning if the forecast promises rain... you never know what nature might conjure up for you.. Yosemite is a magical place and in this case the location has contributed a high percentage to the success of the photograph... and not just a little bit of luck... Full Frame 24mm is wide enough... just :)
