Location
I took this photo in Waddington Alley in downtown Victoria. You might notice that the streets look like cobblestone but they are actually made of wood blocks!Time
This was taken early one rainy morning, just before heading to work, when the streets are quiet.Lighting
The street lights provided the lighting which reflected off the wet pavement, some interior lighting from inside the building cast a blue light that added a bit more color.Equipment
My Nikon D610 with a tripod. I like to use as low an ISO as possible to reduce noise in low light settings.Inspiration
I love photographing the city when it sleeps, there is something about the quietness and the moodiness that is appealing.Editing
I use Lightroom and Photoshop, I typically use Lightroom for HDR, straightening, color correction, add a little input sharpening. Then I use Photoshop for any cleanup using the spot healing brush, removal of objects with content aware fill, and use levels adjustment with masking for specific areas I want to separate. In my camera bag
I normally carry a 70-300mm Nikon lens and 10-20 Sigma lens. The 24-85mm Nikon lens is typically what is on the camera. I also carry a 10 stop filter with some adapter rings for long exposures shots and a couple of circular polarizes.Feedback
Early morning/night shots will depend on the time of year and how early you have to get up to take your shots. I also like when there is rain on the pavement. I find Spring and Fall the best times as there is usually some rain and sunrise is not too early.
