Location
Taken in my front room after visiting the shops for the various components I wanted to use some rare breads and a good cheese The fruit was purchased at the same time and i eat a lot of friut so wanted to capture it before eating it. I then rumaged in the cuboard for a knife with an interesting handle. It was taken for a specific competition that the camera club I belong to was entering L&CPU (which got 1st prize with a mark of 20/20Time
Taken around 4pm on the 03rd December 2009 after errecting the backdrop and arranging the individule elements I took about 30 or so images from Various positions The hardest part of the taking was ensuring I got the reflection on the knife as you dont see it until you get a look through the viewfinder. so there was a lot of tooing and throwing between the set up and the camera.Lighting
The lighting was 1 reflector to throw in some fill from the two Bowens flashes one with a soft box and one with a snoot.Equipment
I used ny old trusty Canon Eos 500D using My canon EF 135lens set at F10 1/200th Iso 100 using spot metering Flash was with Bowens 400D and the image was processed in Photoshop cs4Inspiration
This was my 1st try at Still life being mainly a portrait and bird photographer so if it failed then at least i could drown my sorrows in a decent sandwich and fruit picnic.Editing
Just some basic adjustments in CS4 PhotoshopIn my camera bag
Nowdays i have a canon Eos 5d mk2 and Eos 7D but I always take my sigma 10-17mm lens Caon 100-400 L and my Canon 100mm macro lens and my Canon 28-135 all with lens hoods A ttl Ring flash and a Metz 45cl so nothing realy special or expensive 2cf memory cards and 4 spare batteriesFeedback
Take your time put aside an 1hr or so and only use fresh props!
