Behind The Lens

Location

It was in the middle of somewhere in the West Java, Indonesia, a small city called "Sumedang".

Time

This was taken around 9am in the morning. After the shower rain the night before.

Lighting

Since this is a landscape photography, lighting is ambient lighting. No artificial lightings. But I used blending technique or HDR that I explained below.

Equipment

I used Canon EOS 5D Mark II with EF17-40mm lens and a Manfrotto tripod that I rent on this journey.

Inspiration

I live in Singapore, country without landscape. All we have here is concrete jungle. So when I had a chance for this trip, I bought my photography gears with me. And glad I managed to take this picture.

Editing

Yes. The picture is a combined of double exposure. I made two exposures for the sky and the paddy field as the foreground. I tweaked them one by one in Adobe Lightroom and carefully crafted them both in Photoshop.

My Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 70-200mm, and 24-105mm.

Feedback

Be mindful about tripod. Don't ever think that any tripod will do the job as long as the camera can sit on it. No. Because in this kind of place, wind could ruin the picture. Choose good tripod that you can buy. It will help you to stabilize the shot. Remote is a must so you don't need to touch the camera. One single touch of your finger can affect the composition. And be mindful about the post-processing. Know when to stop. Do not go too far. Natural look is the best.
