Behind The Lens

Location

In the backyard of a friend's house in Burbank, WA.

Time

Afternoon.

Lighting

Totally natural light. She was laying in a kiddy pool lined with some cloth, in the shadow of a building. The lighting was just magical.

Equipment

Canon 5d Mk III with a 50mm lens.

Inspiration

This was taken at a group event run by Alexis Sharpe Photography, a good friend of mine, the theme of which was couture and water.

Editing

I streamlined the colors and contrast; cleaned up her skin quite a bit (puberty sucks!) and smoothed her hair back. Those amazing eyes, lips and lashes I didn't even touch.

In my camera bag

If I'm shooting outside, all I end up using is my camera, even if I bring extra stuff! I guess I'm a minimalist.

Feedback

Go with the flow! Even if your original plans don't work out, make the best of it! Sometimes you will find that the shot you get is better than the one you wanted to get.
