This shot was taken at the Butt of Lewis, on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, UK.
This is the result of a lonely trip made just to try to take a picture of this location and to try to find my Soul.
I had to took two planes, a ferry boat ad to drive around 1000km.
This is what I found, this is my End of the Earth.

I love these long exposures. they are dreamy. I am going to buy a neutral density filter so i can take some of the Rotorua lakes. I think they could also be good made into multiple e exposutres because it would make everything dreamy

Beautiful! My Scottish ancestors came from Lewis Island, and my name is Lewis! So I really appreciate this photo. Thanks for sharing the beauty.

Location
This picture was taken in the Isle of Lewis, the largest island of the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides of Scotland. This spot is located in the north of the island, near the "Butt of Lewis" lighthouse.Time
This picture was taken a couple of hours before the sunset in the middle of a marvelous stormLighting
As you can see, we have a situation of flat light. This helped a lot in managing the long exposure, as it was easier to control the exposure in this two minute exposure shot.Equipment
The body was a Canon EOS 5D mkIII, that in my opinion is a really great camera. The lens was a Zeiss Distagon T* 2,8/21..in my opinion this is the absolute optical perfection, even if sometimes the manual focus could be tricky. Of course, a sturdy tripod was essential because you can imagine how windy was that cliff: my choice was for a Manfrotto 055XCPro3 with a geared head 410jr. I also used ND filters: my choiche was the Lee Big Stopper + a Lee 0.9 GND + an Heliopan polarizer.Inspiration
Adventure. Since I saw this lighthouse on a map while I was sitting comfortably on the chair in my office, an inner voice kept saying to myself “You have to go thereâ€.. Yes, probably I’m crazy, also because the result was two planes, a ferry boat and hundreds of miles by car just for this wonderful view...but I really think that it was worth itEditing
Even if this shot was the result of a single exposure, I had to use Adobe Lightroom to straighten the horizon (lol) and to remove the blue cast from teh Lee Big Stopper. In my camera bag
I really love to travel with light backpack, so in addition to the gear above I have only a spare lens (a Canon EF 16-35 f/2,8 II), some spare batteries, torches and a first aid kit.Feedback
Be patient. Few minutes before this shot I was not able to get out of my car for the storm..and after less than an hour there were o a singlecloud on the sky: sometimes the perfect weather last only few minutes and you must be there!
