Behind The Lens

Location

We were at the Boardwalk with our son and the Amusements had just opened. I snapped this shot as the ride was going through a test run before any people got on.

Time

It was morning on the Jersey Shore. The smells of summer were just starting to fill the air and we were first in line for the rides.

Lighting

It just so happened that it was a very bright, dry day at the beach. So often summer skies in Jersey can be hazy. It was truly a case of right place, right time!

Equipment

Interestingly enough, I only had my iPhone 5 at the time I believe. Just had the right idea as far as composing the space!

Inspiration

Capturing the stillness in movement, the emptiness in action. The contrast in colors based on the direction and angle of the sun made it for a successful shot to me.

Editing

None.

In my camera bag

I have an older Nikon D60. I am not a photographer, but an Art teacher who likes to take pictures. So, I understand Composition, point of view, lighting and the other elements and principles that make work successful or not. I just really look to "notice" things. If I get a shot that works, it was a good day. I took another shot of the ride at a different angle and it was not as successful.
