Location
This photo was taken in Birmingham, AL via timer after the Veteran’s Day Parade. I am in the flight suit and my girlfriend (now wife) is in the burgundy top.Time
It was a about 2hrs before sunset.Lighting
The timing just worked out! It wasn’t planned.Equipment
I had my camera propped up on a trash can (!) sitting on a homemade bean bag. By far, the bean bag (I made mine on the sewing machine out of an old pillow case and popcorn kernels), is the most valuable piece of equipment in my kit.Inspiration
We drove my 1947 Mercury (in the photo) in the Veteran’s Day Parade and we decided to take advantage of the lighting by snapping some pictures before putting the car back in storage.Editing
Sepia tone to accentuate the Fall leaves and side lighting. In my camera bag

“Take the shot, Ice!” We almost didn’t do this shoot but we pressed on and did it anyway. I’m glad we did. Military service is important to our family and this picture captures that for us.
