The photo was taken in Port Elgin, Ontario. The light house is a popular spot for both locals and tourists to check out and visit all year round!Time
The picture was snapped around midday to early afternoon. It was in the fall, so the peaking sun wasn't too overwhelming.Lighting
It was a bright sunny day, so I had to get a little creative with the post processing and the composition, but being autumn, the sun wasn't too harsh. Also, silly me left my filters at home, hours away!Equipment
I used my Nikon z5 and a 50mm prime lens. I went to take pictures of my family, but the photo op of the lighthouse and the fisherman presented itself. I think the focal length actually helped here.Inspiration
Right place, right time. I didn't go out looking for that scene as it was meant to be a family photoshoot, however, I saw it, and snapped it. You never know when a great scene will present itself.Editing
I did! I muted the tones to give it a bit more of a moody feel and to really draw out some of the details in the pier and surrounding landscape. In my camera bag
Usually I have my camera, a nifty 50 prime, and a versatile 24-200.Feedback
Don't be afraid to take a second, look at your surroundings, and take the shot. You never know what might show up, when the lighting will be just right, or an unexpected thing might happen. Be prepared for anything on any kind of shoot.
