Location
This photo was taken in the Etosha National Park in Namibia, close to the Salvadora waterhole.Time
This shot was taken at 8:05AM on the 22 December 2020.Lighting
It was a bright clear morning, still early enough to bring out the warm tones.Equipment
A Canon EOS 650D camera and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens.Inspiration
This is a typical Etosha scene and it brings out the contrasts of nature in a beautiful way.Editing
I use ACDsee software to convert it from a RAW file and do some basic editing, including cropping and making use of the dodge and burn function. In my camera bag
Normally I pack my camera (Canon EOS 650D) and the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 ISII, EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ISII and EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM lens. Also, in the bag I keep a spare battery, memory cards and cleaning gear. I also have a tripod, but mostly shoot handheld.Feedback
This is a unique tree at a unique location. Although captured countless times, this subject presents itself very differently depending on the season and time of day, thus always interesting and worthwhile to capture. When I am in places like the Etosha National Park, my camera is set-up to capture wildlife, thus it is important not to forget to change the settings when taking landscape photos.
