So many wonderful elements in this photo--the colorful flowers, the cute cat, the warmth of the wood that makes up the traditional architecture. Delightful!

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Livigno, a small town in the Alpes in the Northern Italy. I was walking along the main street of Livigno for shopping and I saw this nice scene. Luckily I brought the camera with me!

Time

This was taken on August 17 2013 at 10,30 A.M.

Lighting

About natural lighting, I normally prefer to take photos from sunrise to 10.00 AM and from 5.00-6.00 PM to dusk, unless the subject is on shadow, right like in this case.

Equipment

I used the Canon 7D with zoom wide-angle Canon EF 17-40 f/4L USM without any tripod or flash

Inspiration

I'm a cat lower, so any time I see a cat I don't miss an opportunity to photograph it. In addition to give a nice added value to the scenery there were this beautiful floral frame

Editing

I have been very lucky taking this photo, so there was not need to work so much in post processing phase. I just adjusted a bit the contrast and the sharpness and I also correct slightly the perspective.

In my camera bag

Presently I use a Canon 7D Mark II. The lenses are Canon EF 17-40 f/4L USM, Canon EF 100 f/2,8 MACRO USM and Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II USM. A Gitzo tripod and a ball head. Finally I use often a serie of filter like polarizer, neutral density, neutral graduated density and a big stopper to increase the time exposure when I take photo of water

Feedback

I would recommend to pay most attention to the natural lighting avoiding the direct light. Is better to look for the subjects on shadow and to correct, if any, the blue color cast during a post-processing phase as necessary
