Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my yard. I don't get to go out a lot from my house so what little creatures I could spot I like to photograph them.

Time

The photo was taken at 2:00 PM at noon on a winter day.

Lighting

I didn't tamper much with the lighting the position of the sun was just perfect for the photo. I adjusted the white balance of my camera to get more of a warm tone.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D5000 with a Nikon lens of 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 G AF-S VR IF-ED.

Inspiration

I was following this street cat for a while now and when it sat on a wall post and was about to take a leap I clicked the photo. I wanted to capture the cat looking at the position where it was going to jump and not the cat in the leaping moment itself.

Editing

I didn't do much post processing in this upload. I just increased the shadows a little to juxtapose the otherwise bright outlook of the photo.

In my camera bag

I usually keep my 18-55mm and 70-300mm lens just so I have a variety in ranges that I can shoot a photo.

Feedback

In case of photographing stills of animals it's always a good idea to take multiple shot and angle the camera to adjust the lighting. Using a tripod may help a lot in capturing such pictures.
