Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the Leiria city, Portugal

Time

This moment was captured between about 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. with strong sun light

Lighting

I was just waiting for this moment, and besides the strong sun light, I think the result is very good. The bonus was to include the pigeons at the church entrance.

Equipment

This photo was shot on a Canon 6D with 24-105mm lens f/4, only.

Inspiration

The whole photo event was inspired on the movie "Black Swan" with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. In this case, it was important to improvise and feel/see the good picture. I knew the the shot was close to be captured, the dancer was posing differently, and finally, it is done!

Editing

The photo was edited in the Lightroom software. It was necessary reduce the highlights, because of the strong sun light, pulled up a little the shadows, corrected the contrast, and cropped the photo.

In my camera bag

Indispensable equipment is my Canon 6D body with 24-105mm f/4 lens. I like to capture the wide angle and this lens is very versatile.

Feedback

The only thing I will suggest for others photographers is to do this kind of photo sessions very early with sunrise or later than I did, like at sunset, for example. For the rest, interact with your model/dancer. Make sure she/he is relaxed and feel free to move and also to talk to you, try different angles and different (dancing) poses. Be confident and sometimes show some photos you are doing/taking of the model, she/he will appreciate and you always can use this moment and compliment the model.
