The composite picture consists of a picture that I took of the back of a row of businesses on "C-Street" (Commercial St,) in Springfield, MO, USA, and a set of various size Vintage-style canning jars.
My first step was to take the picture of the businesses and apply a tintype process to the photo. I then used the Snapseed app on my cell phone to overlay the picture of the jars onto the building photo.

Behind The Lens

Location

The buildings in this photo was taken in an alley-way behind Commercial St., at the corner of E. Blaine St. & N. Jefferson Ave., in Springfield, MO, USA. We had gone to a little eatery that featured gluten-free bakery items, and were walking back to our car. I looked up and saw the signs, electrical wiring and building structures, and thought the composition would make a great photo converted to a tintype-style photo.

Time

This photo was taken 11:51 AM on February 2, 2019.

Lighting

The sky was mostly cloudy following a light rain, which resulted in the red brick buildings having a muted look.

Equipment

This was shot with my Moto Z3 Play phone, set to auto, which resulted in the settings being ƒ/1.7, 1/2054, 4.25mm and an ISO of 50.

Inspiration

I was inspired to take this photo because of my fondness of vintage buildings, my many years with telephone companies, and the juxtaposition of old and new construction, which, in this case, was the beige brick addition next to the vintage red brick.

Editing

I did multiple post-processing processes to achieve the final result, using Snapseed for each change. First, I converted the original photo to resemble a tintype-style photo. I then overlaid the photo of the vintage canning jars on the converted photo, and brought the back layer tintype photo to the foreground over the jars.

In my camera bag

I tend to take photos spontaneously, which translates to whatever phone I happen to have in my pocket. If I do a planned photoshoot, I take my Canon A1000, along with a tripod, and set up the equipment.

Feedback

I tend to see beauty in everything, whether it be vintage, modern, or, in this case, a juxtaposition of both styles. In this particular case, after taking the photo of the buildings, I happen to look at a jar of marbles that I have sitting on a shelf at my home, and the thought occurred to me that the buildings would look great in a similar setup. My advice: take the picture and see what may develop later.
