This image was captured at the Atlanta Zoo.Time
We were at the exhibit in the morning before it got too hot and they seemed to be pretty activeLighting
I really wanted the image to look like they were in the wild and not penned up. They had a large area and natural habitat to roam around in. Being the morning hours the light was not too hot and I was able to capture this one coming right at me. it was the perfect timeEquipment
This was shot with a Sony A77 and my 300mm lens.Inspiration
With having a love for Orangutans I sat patiently waiting for the shot. Mind you I got several but this was THE shot I loved most. I love watching their movements and they're somewhat human-like behaviors.Editing
I really did not have to do a lot of processing but what was done was blurring the back out a bit and just brightened it up a touch. In my camera bag
Depending on what I am out to photograph, I always have my 300mm and my 16-55mm F2.4. Those are my 2 I never leave home without. my 70 - 300 gives me the distance usually for areas like this and my 16-55mm are great for indoors and low light or needing that wider angle. I will use my 500 mm if I am out in the wild taking shots.Feedback
My advice to those who would like to capture sure a type of shot is to be patient go prepared. Many times you can take 500 shots and like 5. scope out the area and go when it is early. Afternoon heat they are not active and the sun can be too hot
