Location
This photo was taken on Tenmile Lakes in Oregon while me and my Uncle were out in the boat fishing for perch.Time
Were were out fishing in the afternoon, and we noticed this heron hanging around (we started calling it Harry) so we figured this was a good spot for perch. Sure enough, Harry soon flew in and got himself one too.Lighting
I take my camera everywhere I go, so this was a luck shot and not a planned shot. Tenmile Lakes are on the Oregon coast, so it is often overcast and grey, which makes good shots a challenge sometimes.Equipment
This was taken with my Canon 7dii and 100-400 L ii lens.Inspiration
Just being at the lake always inspires me to shoot. I usually come away with hundreds of shots from my stay.Editing
I always shoot in RAW, so I run my photos through Lightroom, and this particular shot was in low light so I lightened it up and applied some noise reduction,In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 7dii and 100-400 l ii, and I also have a Canon 6d with a 17-40 L in my bag for landscape shots.Feedback
Herons are pretty easy to photograph, a heron in the water catching a fish is just pure luck. Patience and being in the right place at the right time is what it takes.
