This photo was taken in my backyard. It was early spring and the apple tree had tiny new shoots, this female Ruby throat humming bird came and perched on a branch not far from me. Its iridescent green blended well with the tender shades of the young shoots. This is one of my favorite pictures of a humming bird that I have taken as you can see the detail and shades of the green in its feathers.Time
This was taken at 12:53 PM on May 10, 2018 I was sitting in the backyard watching the birds, waiting to get a good picture of some of them when this little humming bird landed on the apple tree not far from me.Lighting
It had rained for most of the morning and the sun had just begun to peak out from behind the clouds so the lighting was great that day. The humming bird was in part sun and part shade and that helped to bring out the colors of its feathers.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D7000 with a 200 - 500mm Nikon LensInspiration
I didn't really plan this shot it was more of a chance shot. It just happened that where the humming bird landed and from where I was sitting the colors on its feathers were a glow and that's what caught my attention. I was happy to get this shot before the little bird flew away.Editing
The picture is pretty much what I shot, I did however boost the color a bit to make it pop.In my camera bag
My camera a Nikon D7000 is the first in the bag. I carry four lenses, a Nikon macro 105mm lens for close ups, a Nikon 70-300mm lens, A Nikon 200-500mm lens and my walk around lens is the Nikon 18-105mm lens. A camera cleaning pen. A Flashlight and a lot of memory cards.Feedback
Sometimes what you planned and what you end up with can be very different. Keep trying various angles look at every detail and find something that will make your photo different from the many pictures of the same subject. With birds and wildlife the more you get to know your subject the easier it is to get good shots of them.
