EYES IN THE DARK
Several times before I passed this spot and every time I thought I should stop here one day and try to shoot this beautiful church. Finally, I made it and it was indeed a nice experience, however, a little challenging. First of all the restaurant which is located behind the church never turned off all the lights so that there was some light pollution all the time. Second of all the church was closed so I could not go in and turn on the light. To illuminate the windows I had to walk around and place my flashlight - set to the highest intensity - in front of every window just to run back to my camera and see that the light is barely seen. Finally, I found one flash light position which illuminated the white walls inside the church and those walls again reflected the light which resulted in 4 natural looking illuminated windows as if somebody would have just turned the light inside the church on. When it was dark I went back to my camera to shoot the milky way. The sky was free of clouds however down in the valley the air was pretty humid so that my camera and lens were totally wet. I didn't have a fan with me to aim at the lens and not even a hand warming pad to wrap around my lens. Therefore I found my self constantly wiping water from my lens with a tissue. Behind my back I could hear some noise from animals and whenever I illuminated the landscape around me with my flashlight to figure out what kind of animal it is all I could see was a few pairs of reflecting eyes. The animal itself was totally black as the night.
