Location
This photo was taken in the nursery room of her new child to be. First time mama.Time
It was mid day. I set up a black background and closed all curtains so the only light would be my mono light.Lighting
I used one light for this photo positioned on the ground behind her a couple feet to the left of her. I had a softbox over my light.Equipment
This was shot with my Canon t3i at the time. I believe it was paired with a 18-24 Tamron lens and one mono light with softbox.Inspiration
I'd always wanted to try a boudoir style maternity shoot. This mom was all in and I'm so glad it worked out perfectly.Editing
I used Lightroom for post editing. I added some softness and a matt type layer. In my camera bag
I always carry 3 lenses. 50mm 24-70 and 70-200 along with my Canon 80d, a Canon speedlight and reflector. If I'm doing studio style work I usually carry my whole studio hahaFeedback
Once everything is set up, then get your subject in the mood to capture the expression you are looking for. Make sure it's the perfect moment then snap. You don't want to lose that meaningful, perfect timing, expression by having them do it over and over. Make sure all your lighting and all details are ready then talk to your subject to get that perfect expression. Speak softly or speak loudly, speak excitingly or speak easy according to the expression you are looking for. Most importantly... Have fun!!!
