Location
Most of my work is location portraits. This was taken in my dining room mostly for convienience.Time
It was a Saturday afternoon. We had spent most of the afternoon shooting a few looks with about a half dozen wardrobe changes.Lighting
It was late in the afternoon a mostly cloudy day. The window was to Em's right and I guess being cloudy the soft light cast over her right shoulder just worked.Equipment
This was shot with my back up Nikon 7000 I had on a 60mm f 2.8 G E D Macro Lens hand held with just natural light. Em is so patient and lets me try diferent combinations.Inspiration
I was trying to capture Em's smooth skin next to the flower.Editing
I try to do the least amount of post as possible. I like to let the camera and the lens capture the image. All I did with this shot is convert to black and white with a little cropping. In my camera bag
My first love is portriature. My go to lens is a 1/4 85 on a Nikon 610 body. If I use a flash I add a Wong Reducer to soften. I try to use mostly natural light were possible.Feedback
Most courses will teach you many basic things. I like to take that knowledge and years of practise and go outside the box. Don't be afraid to experiment as in using macro lens for a portrait or a 300mm lens for close up of that flower 20 feet away. Worse can happen you push the delete button reset and try again.
