My goal was to shoot a sunset yesterday but while going towards the planned location i saw this beautiful white horse living his life, chewing on grass. What immediately caught my attention was the light of the sun shining behind the horsie. I had to make a decision at that point. Landscape or horsie. Needless to say that horsie won!

Location
This is one of my most succesful photo till today and was taken at roughly 7 km from where i lived. It's was a beautiful day, i felt good and you could tell that the sunset was going to be magical.Time
I was on my way, by bike, to a planned location using The Photographer's Ephemeris. The road to the destination was not too difficult, so i decided to leave the house a bit later and i would still have 30 to 40 minutes to set everything up to take the photo. At least that's what i thought... At roughly 3 km from the location i was lost in the woods, lost a lot of time and starting to doubt if i would make it. When i finally found the way out, i was out of breath but still had time to capture the sunset like i planned in my mind but had to go fast. So i decided to go for it and just as i was about to spin those legs like there was no tomorrow, i looked at my left, and saw the golden sun hitting the white horse in the distance and remember saying "WOW!". The scenery was just to beautiful to only make a mental snapshot of it and continue my way to the planned location. I had to make a choice, and fast! Needless to say that White Horsie won! This was taken on October 10, 2016 at 17:45 PM.Lighting
If there is one thing that i've learned after taking thousands and thousands of photos, is that lighting is very important and it will make or break a photo. I will always try to shoot in the morning when the sun rises or in the evening at sunets to give my photos a little extra umph.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D7100 with an 70-300mm f4.5 -5.6 VR lens.Inspiration
The awesome part about this photo is that it was not planned at all! I was inspired by the beauty of the scenery. I had to stop and capture it. Since that moment i always take the time to look around while going to a planned location for another "WOW" moment.Editing
I always start with Lightroom for the basic retouching. It's such an amazing tool. After lightroom i've used another software, which i can't remember, to add a bit of warmth and glow and used Photoshop at the end to do some cleaning. Like dust spots, branches and etc...In my camera bag
I do not own a lot of gear and always have the same equipment with me every time i go out to take photos. The camera i own is the Nikon D7100 and have 3 lenses: The Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 VR. The Nikon 50mm f1.4 and the Nikkor 105mm 2.8 VR. I also have a wireless remote and a tri-pod attached to the bag.Feedback
Sometimes we are rushing head down to a specific location and are missing a lot of opportunities. Try to slow down from time to time and absorb what's happening around you. You will be amazed at how many times you will be able to take wonderful photos and going home with a big smile.
