I took this photograph with my Nikon D810, with the 200-500 mm Nikkor lens. Shutter speed 1-1650 second, and f-5.6. The lens was set to 500 mm. This is the best of over 2000 photos taken that day because it is so sharp (you can see detail on the pilot's flight suit) and it is full frame - not cropped.

Thank you! It really is kind of a miracle of modern digital photography. The aircraft is traveling quickly, it's a full frame shot at 500mm, and yet it is so sharp you can see details of the pilot's flying suit. I don't think the technology existed ten years ago to capture an image like that. It was the best of 2,300 photos I took that day.
